Burning the Quran supports terrorism

So, by now you’ve probably heard about the church in Florida which is planning on holding a party on September 11 where they intend to burn large numbers of Qurans. Clearly, like Fox News’ attacking the guy funding the “Ground Zero Mosque” who also happens to be a primary stock holder in Fox News’ parent company, these folks really haven’t thought this out. Because, as my title suggests, burning the Quran supports terrorism.

As the people who are participating in this literary roast are pious and good Christians, I’m certain that they don’t have a vast multitude of copies of the Quran laying around. This means that they will be purchasing most of the books they will be burning. So, they will be paying bookstores for these books. To get the books, the bookstores will be paying the publishers who printed the books. In that legitimate copies of the Quran have to be attested as correct printings and translations, most such publishers are likely to be Islamic organizations. As such, it is entirely possible that there will be some wealthy Muslim backers for these organizations and some of those backers and organizations will likely have possible connections to the extreme factions of Islam and might even directly support the spread of Sharia Law. That means that some of those organizations must be partially funding and supporting terrorist activities.

So clearly, paying money to bookstores for copies of the Quran means that those bookstores are paying publishers, some of whom are Islamic and some of whom have contributed money or other support to terrorists. Clearly buying copies of the Quran to burn them is supporting terrorism! And that’s even before the action promotes violence against America and it’s troops.

  1. Well, you're also saying that just outright buying the Quran supports terrorism. What does it matter to the bookstores or publishers what you use it for? Someone buying the Quran to study it for sincere religious purposes is sending the very same money to the very same people according to your argument. If it's a money flow issue, you should just say that buying the book supports terrorism, but I don't think that's the message you're trying to send out.

A Christian church burning heaping piles of Qurans supports terrorism because it's outright asking (daring!) for a religious war.

    1. You are definitely correct that anyone buying a Quran could be "supporting terrorism". But I was definitely making a rhetorical point more than an actual legitimate logical one. I believe that, in actuality, most publishers are paid by the bookstores ahead of time, before any of the books are actually sold to the public. And that being true, buying any book from any bookstore that sells the Quran (or any other book printed by an Islamic publishing company) is "supporting terrorism".

But again, I was primarily making the rhetorical point about the lack of any semblance of rational thought behind the book burning "protest".

  2. Yea but that's not the point.

Muslims believe that they have the OBLIGATION to KILL YOU if you:

    1. burn their book

    2. draw a stick figure and call it Mohammad

    3. Say anthing bad about Islam

    4. Are NOT Muslim – because you don't deserve to live anyway.

    5. Don't support a mosque

Did I leave anything out? I'm so glad that they are peacefull people.

Hmmm. Sounds more like a Cult to me.

    1. Some Muslims believe that, but not all of them. I'd even go so far as to say that the ones who do believe that are no more actual Muslims than many people who claim to be Christian are actually Christian because they present arguments of hate and non-forgiveness.
